I was born and raised in the frosty city of Edmonton, Canada and have been traveling and living abroad for the last 15 years.
I have a degree in cultural anthropolgy and religious studies and a compulsion to travel, write, and take pictures.
I have always been drawn to the lesser-visited areas of the world, which brought me to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, and more, and some of my most profound experiences have occured at the centers of the world's great faiths. I practice a simple breathing meditation when I travel so I can take a little bit of energy from each place with me.
I've been living in Taiwan for the last 10 years with my wife Emily and our son and daughter Sage and Lavender.
In 2011, I published a book about Taiwan, and my work has been featured in Vogue Taiwan, Discover Taipei, CNN, and many other publications. I also write and edit educational material for a number of publishers and teach business English.
If you are interested in cooperating or would like to hire me for a writing or photography assignment, please contact me at the email address below. I have worked with hotels, travel magazines, government tourism boards, airlines, and more. I also offer a proofreading service to other bloggers!
