Nick Kembel, travel photographer and author of Taiwan in the Eyes of a Foreigner

Nick Kembel is a travel writer and photographer based in Taipei, Taiwan.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Canada, he experienced and epiphany at the age of 19 while hiking alone in New Zealand, realizing that it was his life calling to travel and share his experiences with others.

After returning home, he completed a degree in anthropology and religious studies and established a Students for a Free Tibet chapter at his university.

Upon graduation, he traveled to another 40+ countries. His fascination with sacred environments and places of worship lured him to various lesser-traveled corners of the globe, and he won awards for his blogs on Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, and India.

He has been living in Taiwan since 2008 and published his first boook, Taiwan in the Eyes of a Foreigner, in 2011. He has contributed to CNN and multiple travel magazines, and he has written a number of educational textbooks.

Kembel currently lives in Taipei with his wife, son Sage, and daughter Lavender.

20% of all proceeds from my book (Taiwan in the Eyes of a Foreigner) and travel photography sales are donated to the Salaam Baalak Trust, a non-profit organization helping street kids in India.
